The Brahmin and the Three Crooks ब्राह्मण और तीन ठग
A brahmin was carrying a goat home on his shoulders. Three crooks saw him and made a plan.
The first met him on the road: "Why is a holy man carrying a dog?" The brahmin laughed it off. A little later the second crook said, "Sir, why are you carrying a dead calf?" Now the brahmin felt uneasy. Then the third crook said, "Carrying a donkey? How shameful!"
Convinced that the goat must be some evil spirit that kept changing shape, the brahmin threw it down and ran home. The three crooks took the goat and had a feast.
